Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
Finished studies in Economics and Statistics at the University of Stockholm and I am currently working as a data scientist for the Customer Insights department at A1. Prior to A1, I was working for 9 years in consulting services at the customer analytics department.
Describe your career path so far. What attracted you to A1?
Its position as a leading Telco provider in Croatia, its reputation of having great working environment as well as my desire to switch from consulting to in house analytics were a few of the factors that attracted me to apply for a position in A1.
Can you share more about your team and the projects that you are working on?
I am working closely with another data scientist on projects like hardware recommendation, where we try to provide the best suggestions regarding what mobile device to offer our customers, segmentation of A1 prepaid customers into similar behavioral groups to optimize marketing targeting. On the pipeline we have projects such as predictive modeling for churn & propensity to buy as well as to explore and exploit our customer’s web behavioral patterns.
Can you please give us a brief summary of what your job entails.
Using advanced analytical methods with aim to gain better Customer Insights understanding and to advance in Customer Experience Management (both on demand and proactive proposals of CI/CEX analysis):
• Building and maintaining relevant customer insights prediction models
• Proactively recognizing information and data that could open new business opportunities and/or improve internal process efficiency
• Performing ad-hoc analyses to answer specific business questions, analyzing and interpreting customer insights
What is the most challenging aspect of your current role?
Coordination with different departments on data availability, defining a clear business objective of the analysis as well as ensuring correct implementation of the analysis made.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
To see that the analytical framework we perform reflects positively to the business.
How would you describe your learning experience in A1?
I am constantly learning about the inside loops of an industry I always had high interest in, to be able to combine analytics with daily company operations and see the value added of it.
What has been the most notable thing you’ve learned from a mentor or role model?
Be open to new ideas, lead when needed, innovate - don’t duplicate.
What advice would you have for someone who would like to work as data scientist in A1?
That she/he should definitely try it out, there are possibilities to work on loads of actionable data, interesting projects to be involved in and the chance to propose projects. In addition, you get to learn a lot about the telecommunications industry and collaborate with other departments, which can be a very insightful experience.
